For Parents & Caregivers

You know your child better than anyone. When something feels off, whether it is how they learn, focus, manage emotions, or cope with a medical condition, it helps to have a team that can tell you what is going on and what to do about it. Children's Behavioral Medicine Collaborative works with families across the Puget Sound to understand how a child thinks, learns, and feels, and to turn that understanding into a clear plan you can act on.

When Families Reach Out to Us

Most parents and caregivers come to us with a specific concern. Common reasons families schedule with us include:

  • Ongoing struggles with reading, writing, or math
  • Trouble with attention, focus, or staying organized
  • Differences in social communication or a question about autism
  • Anxiety, low mood, or behavior that is hard to manage at home or school
  • Changes in thinking or learning after a concussion, seizure, cancer treatment, or other medical condition
  • A school request for testing, or questions about an IEP, 504 plan, or accommodations

You do not need to have all the answers before you call. Part of our job is helping you figure out what kind of support, if any, your child actually needs.

How We Help

Depending on what your child needs, we offer:

  • Neuropsychological evaluations that examine how your child thinks, learns, remembers, and manages emotions, and that clarify conditions such as ADHD, autism, or a learning disability when the findings support it
  • Therapy for anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, and coping with medical or developmental conditions
  • Biofeedback for stress, headaches, and physical symptoms tied to the body’s stress response
  • Skills groups that build social and executive functioning skills
  • Consultation and school liaison support to help you make sense of results and advocate at school

If you are not sure which of these fits, start with a phone call and we will help you sort it out.

What Working With Us Looks Like

We try to make the process feel manageable from the first call.

  • A first conversation to understand your concerns and goals
  • A clear recommendation for an evaluation, therapy, a group, or simply guidance
  • A supportive, child-centered process, and a hello from Bella, our office dog, if your child would like
  • A written report and practical recommendations you can use at home and at school
