Neurodevelopmental Disorders in Children & Teens in Puget Sound.

Comprehensive Evaluation Across the Full Range of Neurodevelopmental Conditions Our fellowship-trained pediatric neuropsychologists evaluate how your child’s brain develops, learns, and functions. When development takes an unexpected path, a thorough evaluation gives families clear answers and a practical way forward.

What Are Neurodevelopmental Disorders?

Neurodevelopmental disorders are a group of conditions that begin in early development and shape how a child thinks, learns, communicates, moves, or manages attention and behavior. Because they often overlap, a comprehensive evaluation matters more than testing for any single diagnosis.

  • Rooted in development: they reflect how the brain grows and matures.
  • Frequently co-occurring: one condition often appears alongside another.
  • Best understood together: we assess the whole picture, not one label.

Why Families Choose Children’s Behavioral Medicine Collaborative

Our pediatric neuropsychologists are fellowship-trained, with more than 50 years of combined experience in hospital-based children’s care. We evaluate the full neurodevelopmental picture rather than a single diagnosis, so families leave with genuine clarity. We serve families across Bellevue, Seattle, Mercer Island, Bainbridge Island, Olympia, and Gig Harbor, with virtual sessions available statewide where appropriate.

When an Evaluation Can Help

Families often reach out when they notice ongoing patterns that affect daily life. An evaluation brings clarity when a child shows:

01
Developmental Delays

Not meeting expected milestones on time.

02
Attention and Organization Challenges

Trouble focusing, planning, or following through.

03
Social Communication Differences

Difficulty connecting or relating to peers.

04
Learning Struggles

Ongoing difficulty with reading, writing, or math.

05
Behavioral or Emotional Regulation

Patterns that disrupt home or school.

1. Call Us
2. Your First Appointment
3. Begin Care

A member of our team will talk with you about your child’s needs, help identify the right service, and answer any initial questions. No referral needed. Call us at (253) 256-3626 or email admin@childrensbmc.com.

We begin with an intake or consultation to understand your child’s history, gather information, and learn what matters most to you and your child. Bring any school evaluations, IEP/504 plans, past evaluations, or report cards you have – but if you don’t have anything, that’s fine too.

Whether you’re starting an evaluation, therapy, or a skills group, we guide you through each step and keep you updated throughout the process. We’re collaborative from day one – a partner in your child’s journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

A learning disability is one type of neurodevelopmental disorder. The broader category also includes autism, ADHD, intellectual differences, and communication and motor disorders. A comprehensive evaluation identifies which are present and how they relate.

Yes. Neurodevelopmental conditions frequently co-occur. Our evaluations are designed to identify all relevant findings rather than confirming a single diagnosis in isolation.

We evaluate children, teens, and young adults, from early childhood through college age.

No. Families can contact us directly, though some children are referred to us by their providers.

If you are not sure, that is common. A diagnostic consultation helps determine the right type of assessment before any testing begins.

While we are not in-network with insurance, we provide superbills that families can submit for reimbursement, if applicable. See our Insurance & Fees for more information.

Pricing varies based on time and complexity. Contact our office and we can discuss what your child’s evaluation may involve.
