About Dr. Yelena McGraw

Dr. McGraw completed two years of postdoctoral fellowship in lifespan neuropsychology, with clinical rotations in Maryland at the Chesapeake Center, NeuroBehavioral Associates, and the Center for Assessment and Treatment. She has experience conducting comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations to better understand individual patterns of cognitive strengths and areas for growth. Dr. McGraw’s clinical background includes working with individuals with diverse cognitive profiles and developmental experiences, which she brings to her current work with children and adolescents. Her clinical interests include neurodevelopmental differences, learning and attention, executive functioning, and the many factors that shape cognitive, emotional, and everyday functioning. Outside of work, Dr. McGraw enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, and finding opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

Her Approach to Care

Dr. McGraw takes an evidence-based approach to neuropsychological evaluation, considering each child's developmental history, cognitive profile, and everyday experiences to better understand their unique needs. She recognizes that a child's learning, behavior, and emotional well-being are shaped by many factors and takes a comprehensive approach to understanding how they influence a child's daily life.

She believes that recommendations are most helpful when they are meaningful and realistic for each child and family. Dr. McGraw values collaboration with parents, educators, and other members of a child's care team, while also making space for children and teens to share their own perspectives and be active participants in the process. She works to develop practical strategies and supports that reflect each child's needs and everyday experiences, helping families feel informed and equipped with meaningful next steps.

A Personal Note

I believe that getting to know each child as an individual is one of the most important parts of my work. Every child has unique strengths, challenges, and a personality, and I enjoy learning what makes each one who they are. I know that the evaluation process can sometimes feel overwhelming for children and caregivers alike, so I strive to create a welcoming, comfortable space where children and teens feel at ease, and families feel heard and supported.

My goal is to help families better understand how their child learns, thinks, and navigates the world around them. I hope that every family leaves the evaluation with a clearer understanding of their child, a greater appreciation for their strengths, and practical recommendations they can use to support their child’s growth and development.
